Hi I am Clara. I am a Certified Body Control Pilates Teacher which means I have undergone the most comprehensive teacher training of its kind recognised throughout the world and seen as an international benchmark in Pilates Teacher Training.
I have been an active sportswoman throughout my life as a successful hockey player and swimmer in my more youthful days. I played Hockey at a very high level achieving a Half Blue Award while studying Pharmacy at Bath University. During my early career as a Pharmacist in the late 90's, when working life made team sports more difficult to pursue, I continued to enjoy sport developing a new passion for cycling, first on my mountain bike in and around the Chiltern Hills and then additionally as a road cyclist. I have always continued to be an occasional runner and swimmer which lead me to Triathlon. Inevitably all these physical endeavours have led to a few injuries over the years and that is how I discovered Pilates!
Initially sceptical, (I wasn't sweating!), I can honestly say that it is thanks to Pilates that I can continue to enjoy my sporting hobbies. A knee injury quickly resolved once I began Pilates, learning how to re-align my body and ensure correct movement patterns during physical exercise. Pilates has become even more cruicial as part of my cycling, helping to prevent neck, shoulder and hip issues all too familiar to frequent cyclists.
Since qualifying as a Teacher I have continued to undertake further training. I have an additional L3 qualification in Pilates for Bone Health, principally in managing osteoporosis as well as Pilates for Scoliosis, using the Pilates method to focus on spinal alignment and reduction of pain. Additionally I have taken part in training in the use of Pilates for Cyclists, to build strength and endurance as well as a form of cross training.
I have now completed my Reformer training and in August 2022 became a qualified Reformer Teacher! Contact me for your introduction to this exciting piece of equipment and find out how it can enhance your Pilates practice.
